Hello Tweeters,

It is very intersting staying on the pier in Dashpoint. Some birders comming
and not staying to long.so long there saw any Ancient. And there are the ones
what have to look in the Sibley to find out what there looking for. Most of
the time there can not find the birds in there scope.Than otheres trying to
go to the state park or as today to Browns point. It so happen that as
birdres left we had two Ancient Murrelet,s comming close on to the pier. This
birds was feeding with the Boneparte,s Gulls, Grebes Cormorant,s' ands
other alcids. To bad birders had no patient to wait, there would have seeing
this murrelet,s as close as 30 yards. We saw our first Ancient Murrelet,s on
the 20th,Where we photographed this birds close. The reason we made four
trips is to study there behavier, and every time it is a different ball game
>From all the birders what been going either here or in Edmonds no one wrote
any think what there saw on behavier. This is exactly wy i never had a
chance where i saw this birds before, flying by, far out, this one smal bird
flying fast no details and no study can be made.
I must agree with Charlie Wright, Brian Bell, and Michael Donahue that the
tide have nothing to do how close this birds coming to shores.Today it was
an outgoing tide this afternoon, and this Murrelet,s came close feeding heavy
with the other birds. It was a feeding frenzy for at leat 15 minutes.I got
good looks at the Cassin,s Auklet ,seeng this bird in the water, taken in
flight i could see how gray this bird was ,smaler than the Ancient nearby
flying superfast.I handed the scope over to Hans, what seems to me one of the
bettter birder around there ,and visit this area a lot since he lives only 7
minutes from Dash Point. We meeting many intersting people on the pier
..People from different countries, most all are intersting what we looking for
in the waters.A very nice day to spend in the afternoon.
