Walking our loop from home, north on Alki Blvd to California Avenue,
before heading up California Avenue we spotted about a dozen Buffleheads
scattered about, further north a half dozen Barrow's Goldeneye, and at
Duwamish Head a flock of 55 rockpipers, with 8 Black Turnstones and 47
Surfbirds. We have spotted Surfbirds along here for several years, but
this is the largest number we have seen at one time. Usually the flock
has totalled about a dozen birds.
