Hey tweets, I'm sorry to take up space here again, but I thought you might
like to know that our first shipment of rice has landed on Unanu. This
email from Joe Mangle, one of the islanders, expresses how much your help
meant to people there (the interns referred to are US student teachers;
Alex was one three years ago):

Greetings from the Micronesian Islands. The ship arrived at the island.
That ship brought the interns and along with them were the food you sent or
donated for the relief. My family expresses their deepest gratitude, their
most thankful words to you for what you had done for the island people.
They have asked me to express to you their most thankful words to you for
your sincere heart, kindest, and everything else. Our islands were totally
a mess. People found it very hard to look for food. The breadfruit trees
died down. All breadfruits were shaken down from their branches. Time
after, situation got worse. People there were very happy. They thanked you
so much for what you did. Here, I thank you too. On behalf of my family,
relatives, and everyone else, I thank you for that.You did a very wonderful
deed! We can't imagine how kind you are. We don't know how to thank you for
that.

FYI, our first rice shipment will run out in early December. The islanders
will then be right back into starvation until early spring. I am collecting
additional donations now and plan to wire another major donation in
December. I hope to match our first effort.
