September 19, 2002, Thursday, 7:34 pm. Hi, this is Tom Aversa. Today there was a first winter FRANKLIN'S GULL at Point-No-Point. Also, a whole lot of COMMON TERNS and BONAPARTE GULLS, and quite a few PARASITIC JAEGERS. Quite a show out there.

September 19, 2002, Thursday, 7:41 pm. Hi, this is Steven Mlodinow. Today at the Everett Sewage Ponds there was a FRANKLIN'S GULL and 2 EARED GREBES. Good luck and good birding.

September 24, 2002, Tuesday, 11:28 pm. Yes, my name is Marilyn Clausterman, and I want to report a SCRUB JAY in my backyard in the Judkins Park area, South Seattle. My phone number is (206) 329-9937.

September 25, 2002, Wednesday, 6:42 pm. This is Rachel Lawson at (206) 282-5593. Today, September 25th on the Seattle Audubon field trip led by Tom Aversa at the Game Range at the Skagit Wildlife Management Area, we saw 1 RED-SHOULDERED HAWK. That's it. Good birding.

September 27, 2002, Friday, 7:53 pm. Hi, this is Steven Mlodinow. Yesterday, Tom Aversa and I birded various parts of Snohomish, Skagit, and Whatcom County. Main highlights were a MARBLED GODWIT on the Drayton Harbor side of Blaine towards the west end of Blaine, and a FRANKLIN'S GULL at the Everett waterfront, viewable from Marine View Drive just north of the Everett public boat launch. At the Skagit Game Range, there were a fair number of migrants. The only thing of real interest was a modestly late PACIFIC-SLOPE (type) FLYCATCHER. There was also a TOWHEE, one of the non-westside races present there,
and that's about it. Good luck and good birding.

September 28, 2002, Saturday, 12:36 pm. This Michael Fleming, (206) 297-3234. Went birding this morning at Discovery Park, along with the Discovery Park bird tour. Did most of our birding down on the water. Saw quite a few BONAPARTE GULLS, a few COMMON TERNS , which was nice, and also a couple, actually 2 PARASITIC JAEGERS, one of them in breeding plumage. Real nice looking, chasing and harassing the GULLS and the TERNS. That's it. Good luck and good birding.

September 28, 2002, Saturday, 2:55 pm. Hi, this is Steven Mlodinow. Today I birded Whidbey Island. Not much in the rarity department. The main thing being 3 CLARK'S GREBES at Penn Cove. Lots of birds moving. Lots of PACIFIC and COMMON LOONS, RED-NECKED and HORNED GREBES, etc. There was also EURASIAN WIGEON on private property, a couple of PARASITIC JAEGERS off Cultus Bay and a PARASITIC JAEGER, and another identified POMARINE or PARASITIC JAEGER off the end of Hastie Lake Road. That's it. Good luck and good birding.

September 28, 2002, Saturday, 11:12 pm. This is Rachel Lawson at (206) 282-5593. Today, Saturday, at the Hoquiam Sewage Treatment ponds I, and many other birders, were able to find the SHARP-TAILED SANDPIPER that was reported there earlier in the week by Richard Bledsoe. This bird always seems to stay in the southwest corner of the ponds and is easiest to see from the wooden boardwalk that extends out into the ponds. It hides among the vegetation in front of some clumps of cattails, and you may have to be patient and wait for it to come out where you can see it. The very nice staff at the pond say birders are welcome to walk through the gate and on to the wooden boardwalk, but they ask that you sign in at the office first. That's it. Good birding.
