Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday October 3. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls at

An immature LITTLE BLUE HERON was with several GREAT EGRETS October 2 at the
mouth of Link River at Moore Park in Klamath Falls.

Heavy migrations were reported during the week, especially WHITE-FRONTED
GEESE, FLICKERS, SPARROWS, and MEADOWLARKS. Clouds of AMERICAN GOLDFINCHES
were in many areas and may soon visit city bird feeders.

A September 28 offshore boat trip out of Charleston found a SKUA, 2
FLESH-FOOTED SHEARWATERS, 140 CASSIN'S AUKLETS, and 150 PINK-FOOTED
SHEARWATERS.

A SHARP-TAILED SANDPIPER was at Bandon September 29. A MOUNTAIN BLUEBIRD was
on the North Spit of Coos Bay September 27. A BURROWING OWL was on the
deflation plain near the South Jetty of the Siuslaw River September 29.
Several LAPLAND LONGSPURS and KITTIWAKES were at the South Jetty of the
Columbia River September 29.

A WHITE-THROATED SPARROW was at the Sandy River Delta east of Portland
October 1. An AMERICAN GOLDEN-PLOVER, a BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPER, and a
SHARP-TAILED SANDPIPER were at the Fernhill Wetlands in Forest Grove during
the week, but may have been pushed out by the September 29 storm.

A PRAIRIE FALCON and a WHITE-TAILED KITE were at Baskett Slough NWR
September 29. A late SOLITARY SANDPIPER was at the EE Wilson Wildlife Area
October 1. A RUFF, a SHARP-TAILED SANDPIPER, and possibly two STILT
SANDPIPERS were at Fern Ridge Reservoir during the week. A SHORT-EARED OWL
was on Spencer Butte in Eugene September 27.

On September 29 four SURF SCOTERS were on the Joseph Sewage Ponds. A
SCRUB-JAY was four miles west of Hines September 30.

The HOODED WARBLERS at Malheur Headquarters were last seen September 24. A
male ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAK was at Headquarters September 28. On September
27 a BAND-TAILED PIGEON was in Fields.
