What an awesome encounter. It's unusual to see a dove/pigeon of any sort
bail like that on a falcon. Inexperienced birds, young ones, sick ones etc.
are the ones to bail. Otherwise, a GOOD dove/pigeon will attempt, and
usually be successful in outflying a falcon. Peregrine falcons are not the
type to go and get rough with their prey. They prefer little aggression from
their prey and also limited dangerous encounters unlike a merlin, or prairie
falcon.
