Has anyone yet determined if the turkeys east of Belfair in the area of Hwy 3
and Lake Flora Rd. DNR transplants? Sunday a long turkey was wandering on
Hwy 303 in front of Safeway and slowing traffic (even the ambulance on the
way to the hospital slowed for it).

Also, thirteen turkey vultures were kettling over the Lilliwaup area of south
Hood Canal about 4:30 this afternoon. TV number 13 was a loner and kept
about a mile from the others and several hundred feet lower. It didn't seem
interested in gaining altitude and continued south after the main group as
they headed south at their higher altitude.

Also, Sunday afternoon there were several flocks of Am. Wigeons from South
Colby to Manchester but no Eurasians were with the flocks. Along SE Cornell
Rd. just west of S. Colby were three groups of black turnstones and wandering
tattlers. One group of about 40 turnstones and tattlers were with a group of
sanderlings bathing in a tidal pool.

Surf and white wing scoters were seen in the same areas as the wigeons.
Three of these groups each had two pairs of harlequin ducks with them. A
flock of surf scoters along Hood Canal also had a single pair of harlequins
with it. I saw more harlequins Sunday afternoon than all year combined.
