Hi, Douglas:

I leave my bird boxes up all winter just in case any critter needs it to
survive snowstorms, freezing temps, etc. I make the rounds and clean them
all out in the Fall (about now) and then check them again in the early
Spring. I have a couple of boxes fixed up with removable perches inside
(pencil sized dowels running across the box at staggered intervals so
small birds can perch together and get more warmth that way. I keep
meaning to do that to all of them but time constraints (you know, the
usual...work, commute, kids (or in my case, grandkids), dance and tai chi
classes) but I'll get around to it. : )
