After reading Scott Downs message I drove out to Vantage. I birded further down river ( the other side of I-90) and found 12 surf scoters.

I then drove to Soap Lake looking for the long-tailed ducks. I found one with two white-winged scoters. I also found three surf scoters all of my sightings were on the south end from the parking lot.

Who knows how many scoters there are out there right now?
