Subject: Weekend Birds

Inlanders,

I did a little birding this weekend in parts of Pend Oreille and Spokane counties. Below are my highlights.

Surf Scoter - I saw eight birds in two separate flocks on Sullivan Lake in Pend Oreille County on Saturday (new county record).

Purple Finch - My father has a female coming to the feeder at his house in Elk, WA (northern Spokane County). If you'd like to see this bird call my dad (Larry Moskwik) at (509) 292-8168. The bird was present Saturday and Sunday mornings.

Merlin - Two birds sighted in Douglas fir trees outside of my apartment complex in Cheney, WA on Sunday morning.
