Went on a 'Duckathon' at Soap Lake, Lake Lenore, Alkali, and Blue Lake. There were 26 species of waterfowl recorded. The highlights were the Scoters and Long-tailed Duck. The list as follows ( not in tax order):
Common Loon - 19 (all on Blue Lake)
Horned Grebe - 3
Eared Grebe - 8
Red-necked Grebe - 5
Clarke's Grebe - 1
Western Grebe - 6
Green-wing Teal - 19
Blue-wing Teal - 1
Mallard - 56
American Widgeon - 78
Gadwall - 6
Northern Shoveler - 98
Northern Pintail - 11
Canada Goose - 133
Bufflehead - 22
Common Goldeneye - 7
Barrow's Goldeneye - 3
Canvasback - 8
Redhead - 7
Ring-neck Duck - 4
Lesser Scaup - 153
Greater Scaup - 4
Ruddy Duck - 500+
SURF SCOTER - 55 (all but 9 on Lake Lenore)
LONG-TAILED DUCK 1 (4 others possible across lake, but too far for +ID)

Not a particularly interesting list, except the number of sea ducks and diver ducks arriving so early. Typically we don't see these until mid November in these numbers.
