Kerry, thanks for putting the numbers all in perspective.
For discussion's sake, I notice that the numbers of Long-tailed
Ducks and White-winged Scoters might not be much more than
would be expected in an average fall for eastern Washington,
especially considering the ever increasing number of birding
hours in the field.

The Surf Scoter numbers however are truly amazing! What
was the suggestion again posted here a few days ago
that the influx can be traced to conditions in Alberta?
