At 5:00 pm yesterday (Oct. 20) Jane Hadley and I found a PALM WARBLER in Bay Center in Pacific County. It was on Dike Road about 100 feet west of the intersection of Dike Road and Highway 101. (This is the same intersection where the Sullivans found a Tropical Kingbird last week. Unfortunately there was no sign of the Kingbird in the late afternoon of 10/19 or 10/20.)

We first spotted it on a fence wire on the north side of the road, then watched it cross the road to a thicket of short alders where we could see it forage for a couple of minutes until it went out of sight into the alder thicket.

Earlier in the day, also in Bay Center, I saw a female BLACK-THROATED GRAY WARBLER and a male TOWNSEND'S WARBLER in a mixed chickadee and kinglet flock. I also found a couple of small flocks of YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERS making it a four warbler day.
