Just got back from Post Office Lake looking for the Stilt Sandpiper. There
were 20 Long-billed Dowitchers, but no Stilt Sandpiper. It may be in the
area. The only place I checked was the north end. And also checked the
pond on the way into Vancouver Lake which had 50+ Long-billed Dowitchers and
2 Greater Yellowlegs. One good bird which I saw chasing a Northern Harrier
was a Short-eared Owl around 6pm. This was on the end of the dead end road
that follows up the side of Vancouver Lake. The lake itself was pretty dead
with lots of Western Grebes. Ducks were too far away for ID. Gulls were
coming in to roost on what appears to be a small wooded island in the middle
of the lake. Most were California Gulls.
