Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday October 24. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls

A YELLOW WAGTAIL was reported October 16 at the summit of Diamond Peak, in
the Cascades south of Hwy 58. A WHITE-WINGED DOVE was photographed in
Newport October 14. A BLUE JAY is now being seen in the Springfield area. On
October 13 a BLACK-THROATED BLUE WARBLER was in Burns.

On October 19 a NORTHERN WATERTHRUSH, a SWAMP SPARROW, and a probable
MOCKINGBIRD were along Baker Beach Road north of Florence. A SCRUB-JAY is
now in Florence.

The October 19 offshore boat trip out of Newport found, among the expected
species, both RED-NECKED and RED PHALAROPES, an ANCIENT MURRELET, several
hundred RHINOCEROS AUKLETS, and an estimated 10,000 CASSIN'S AUKLETS.

The SHARP-TAILED SANDPIPER continues to be seen at Stanley Lake in Seaside.
A BLACK-CROWNED NIGHT-HERON was near Astoria October 22.

On October 20 a STILT SANDPIPER was at Post Office Lake at the south end of
Ridgefield NWR. Three EARED GREBES were also on the lake. Several HORNED and
WESTERN GREBES are now along the Columbia River in North Portland.

The SHARP-TAILED SANDPIPER and a FRANKLIN'S GULL are still at the Fernhill
Wetlands. Another BURROWING OWL has been found north of Halsey. This time
along Kendell Road. Two EARED GREBES and a GREATER SCAUP were on the
Philomath Sewage Ponds October 20. A male CASSIN'S FINCH was at the top of
Marys Peak October 19.

A SLATE-COLORED JUNCO was in Eugene October 18. A RUFF, a RED-NECKED GREBE,
and a FRANKLIN'S GULL are now at Fern Ridge Reservoir. On October 19 a
LAPLAND LONGSPUR, a PACIFIC LOON, and 8 SURF SCOTERS were at Lost Creek
Reservoir north of Medford. Four SURF SCOTERS and a RED-THROATED LOON were
on Big Lake in Santiam Pass October 20.

On October 20 a male LONG-TAILED DUCK and a RED-SHOULDERED HAWK were at Knox
Pond in Malheur NWR. Two SCRUB-JAYS are now being seen in Burns.
