Initially I had hoped (along with many others I'm sure) that this bird was a great-tailed grackle. In an email with Dennis on the 27th (posted on tweeters the 29th at Dennis' request) I suggested a possible hybrid grackle/blackbird. I wish it was a great-tailed, or even common (I have neither as yet in Washington). But, the more pictures that are displayed, and the more I look at them, I am convinced that this is a grackle/blackbird cross. Either a common/Brewer's or great-tailed/Brewer's. I'm still crossing my fingers and hoping for grackle, but I'm not holding my breath ;-). This is a nice thread and I've enjoyed it greatly. Tweeters is a great learning tool in addition to the obvious benefits of quality information.
