Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report

The October 26 offshore boat trip to Perpetua Bank found a LAYSAN ALBATROSS,
340 BLACK-FOOTED ALBATROSS, seven FLESH-FOOTED SHEARWATERS, 100 BULLER'S
SHEARWATERS, and 1500 CASSIN'S AUKLETS. Very heavy coastal movements were
noted during the week mostly of gulls, SURF SCOTERS, and loons, with 3000
COMMON LOONS passing Boiler Bay October 29. TUNDRA SWANS are now arriving in
the Willamette Valley.

A FERRUGINOUS HAWK was near Brookings October 26. LAPLAND LONGSPURS were
seen during the week around Coos Bay, at Bandon, and at the South Jetty of
the Columbia River. Two PALM WARBLERS were at the South Jetty of the Siuslaw
River October 27. On October 29 three SNOW BUNTINGS were at the South Jetty
of the Columbia River.

A late SWAINSON'S THRUSH was in NW Portland October 24. GRAY-CROWNED
ROSY-FINCHES continue to be seen on top of Larch Mountain east of Portland.
The SHARP-TAILED SANDPIPER is still at the Fernhill Wetlands. The PRAIRIE
FALCON and BURRROWING OWL are both still along Smithfield Road in Baskett
Slough NWR.

A RED-NAPED SAPSUCKER was at Opel Creek, 35 miles SE of Salem October 28. On
October 29 three GRAY-CROWNED ROSY-FINCHES and seven SNOW BUNTINGS were on
top of Marys Peak SW of Corvallis. The elusive RUFF is again being seen at
Fern Ridge Reservoir. This time on the west side of the lake near the end of
Royal Avenue.

On October 24 two SURF SCOTERS were on Suttle Lake in Santiam Pass. On
October 27 four PACIFIC LOONS, 200 COMMON LOONS, and nine SURF SCOTERS were
