September 1, evening update, sponsored in part by the Wild Birds Unlimited
stores in Vancouver and North Vancouver.

Sightings for Sunday, September 1:

A juvenile WANDERING TATTLER was seen on the south Jetty at Iona Island
about ? kilometer out. Also at Iona a STILT SANDPIPER was seen on the
northeast pond and a RED-NECKED PHALAROPE was on the southeast pond. Also in
the area were 2 BANK SWALLOWS.

An OSPREY was at Green Timbers Park in Surrey.

Another OSPREY was seen at Boundary Bay and also present between 112 and 104
Street were 3 RED KNOTS and 1 AMERICAN GOLDEN PLOVER, while a RED-NECKED
PHALAROPE was at the mansion west of 96 Street.

Saturday, August 31

At 104th street in Delta was a juvenile AMERICAN GOLDEN PLOVER, 2 MARBLED
GODWITS, 2000 BLACK-BELLIED PLOVERS, 7 RED KNOTS, 30 SANDERLING, 20 BAIRD'S
SANDPIPERS, and 20 SEMIPALMATED PLOVERS. At the mansion was a RED-NECKED
PHALAROPE.

At Iona regional park was 1 HORNED GREBE along the south jetty and dozens of
COMMON TERNS. In the sewage ponds were 22 BAIRD'S SANDPIPERS, 1 juvenile
RED-NECKED PHALAROPE, 1 juvenile WILSON'S PHALAROPE, 2 SEMIPALMATED
SANDPIPERS and 4 BANK SWALLOWS.

Three RED-NECKED PHALAROPES were reported from Lost Lagoon
in Stanley Park.

At Point Roberts were reports of 50 RED-NECKED GREBES,
4 SANDERLING, 19 BLACK TURNSTONES, 1 HUTTON'S VIREO
and at least 40 VAUX'S SWIFTS.

There were no reports for Friday, August 30th.

Thursday, August 29th.

A female WHITE-HEADED WOODPECKER was seen at km 13 on
the Camp Mckinney Rd. east of Oliver. Watch for a
Weyerhauser sign on the left side of the road, where the
bird was observed foraging in Ponderosa Pines.

At Blackie Spit was RED KNOT with BLACK BELLIED
PLOVERS. In Tsawwassen was the WILLET at the south
side base of the ferry jetty and 2 juvenile FRANKLINS
GULLS.

At the Reifel Bird Sanctuary was a STILT SANDPIPER.
