Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday September 5. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls

Nocturnal migrations of SWAINSON'S THRUSHES, LEWIS'S WOODPECKERS, and the
first flocks of WHITE-FRONTED GEESE were among the migration highlights
during the week.

Two RUFFS were seen September 1 at New River south of Bandon. A
BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPER is now on the North Spit of Coos Bay. A BLACK PHOEBE
was on the spit September 4. On September 1, 25 GREAT EGRETS were along the
lower Siuslaw River and over 60 were at Yaquina Bay. A probable CLAY-COLORED
SPARROW was at Yaquina Bay August 31. On September 3 two BUFF-BREASTED
SANDPIPERS were on the Bayocean Shorebird Flats on Tillamook Bay. The next
day two well described RUFFS were on the beach at Cape Meares Village. A
BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPER was at the Necanicum River mouth September 1. A
STILT SANDPIPER was at Stanley Lake in Seaside September 4.

On September 2 an adult RED-SHOULDERED HAWK was at Ridgefield NWR. The Coon
Point RED-SHOULDERED is still being seen on Sauvie Island. A SOLITARY
SANDPIPER was at North Plains September 1. A STILT SANDPIPER has been at the
Fernhill Wetlands since August 31. An AVOCET and a late SEMIPALMATED
SANDPIPER were at Agate Lake near White City September 2.

On August 31 a NORTHERN WATERTHRUSH was on Malheur NWR at Buena Vista
Station, a RED-SHOULDERED HAWK at P Ranch, and a probable BROAD-TAILED
HUMMINGBIRD on Steens Mountain. Lots of BLACK ROSY-FINCHES at Steens Summit
now.
