Hi Tweeters,

Today (9/9/02) between 11:00 and noon there were at least 15 PARASITIC
JAEGERS at Point No Point, Kitsap Co. There were at least 9 pale phased
adults, 1 dark phased adult, and 5 immures. There may have been more
than that but they were moving around quite a bit and difficult to
tally. COMMON TERNS and BONAPARTE'S GULLS numbered in the thousands.
When the feeding frenzy of terns and gulls subsided, the jaegers
disappeared in blink of and eye. It seemed that they, for the most part,
flew south into Puget Sound. At one point there were four jaegers
chasing one tern (poor guy), but somehow a HEERMANS' GULL ended up with
its catch. This was the most jaegers that I have ever seen from land in
WA (although it is not an uncommon count for PNP). It was quite a show!
