"NO EAGLES" says Ed Newbold. There are probably fewer bald eagles in Washington
during September than at any other month of the year. It may well qualify as a
"mass exodus" each year as the birds head north to take advantage of abundant
food, e.g. early runs of salmon. Others might consider posting messages concerning
presence or absence of eagles of eagles in their usual and accustomed haunts this
month.

The band-tailed pigeon season that Ed mentions runs September 15-23 with a bag
limit of 2 per day. After many years of closed seasons, the early summer coo
counts finally reach the threshold that had been established for opening the
season.
