Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday September 12. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls

On September 7 an immature BLUE-FOOTED BOOBY arrived at Yaquina Head, north
of Newport. I was seen daily through September 9.

On September 8 a juvenile YELLOW WAGTAIL was seen on the rocks at the North
Jetty of Yaquina Bay. A MANX SHEARWATER was at Tierra Del Mar, north of
Pacific City September 7. One was off Boiler Bay September 6. A HUDSONIAN
GODWIT was at Bandon September 8, but did not remain.

A male HOODED WARBLER, an OVENBIRD, and a roosting FLAMMULATED OWL were at
Malheur NWR Headquarters September 8 and 9. A TENNESSEE WARBLER was there
September 6. On September 6 a REDSTART and an INDIGO BUNTING were at Fields.
On September 8 a juvenile YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKER was along Esther Street
in Long Creek, north of Burns.

Among the swarm of birds seen on an offshore boat trip out of Newport
September 6 were 167 BLACK-FOOTED ALBATROSS, a BULLER'S SHEARWATER, all
three jaegers and 3 SKUAS. On September 4 a GOLDEN-CROWNED SPARROW was in
the Coast Range near Powers. Two BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPERS were on the North
Spit of Coos Bay September 5. On September 9 an adult SABINE'S GULL was at
the South Jetty of Yaquina Bay. A PARASITIC JAEGER was at the South Jetty of
the Columbia River September 5. A LONG-TAILED JAEGER was there September 9;
and on September 11 there was a BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPER.

A PARASITIC JAEGER was at Coon Point on Sauvie Island September 10. A good
sized flock of SANDHILL CRANES are now in the Coon Point area. A BARRED OWL
was in southwest Portland September 8 at the Marquam Shelter along the
Marquam Trail. On September 11 a GOLDEN-CROWNED SPARROW and a SLATE-COLORED
FOX SPARROW were on Larch Mountain east of Portland.

The STILT SANDPIPER continues at the Fernhill Wetlands. On September 5 a
RED-SHOULDERED HAWK arrived. A PARASITIC JAEGER was at the Fernhill Wetlands
September 7.

On September 7 a probable CALIFORNIA TOWHEE was in Scio. On September 4, 22
COMMON TERNS were at Fern Ridge Reservoir.

On September 5 a COMMON and an ARCTIC TERN were at the Redmond Sewage Ponds.
Up to 3 SANDERLINGS have been at the Prineville Sewage Ponds all week. On
September 6 a BLACK SWIFT and a PURPLE MARTIN were at Benson Pond in Malheur
NWR. A juvenile MEW GULL was at the Narrows that day.
