September 7, 2002, Saturday, 8:13 a.m. Yes, hi, this is (-- garbled) Tulalip Bay in Washington. Yesterday, that would be September 6th, I saw two AMERICAN AVOCETS in our bay in some mud flats. (-- Garbled.) Thank you.

September 7, 2002, Saturday, 10:12 p.m. Hi, this is Barry Levine (206) 526-8676 reporting on a trip taken to B.C., Canada, today along with Marvin Cooper and Rick Choochan at 104th Street in Boundary Bay. We noted one SHARP-TAILED SANDPIPER, along with a group of about 15 BAIRD'S, 15 PECTORALS, 2 SEMI-PALMATED and small numbers of LEASTS and WESTERNS. Also along Boundary Bay at the sod farm, again with Marvin Cooper and Rick Choochan plus two birders from Seattle, Christy and Hans, were seen 11 BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPERS. That's it. Good luck and good birding.

September 8, 2002, Sunday, 10:47 a.m. This is G. Brugalette at (425) 806-9817. Yesterday, September 7th, I was at Nisqually Wildlife Refuge and saw a WHITE-TAILED KITE and two TURKEY VULTURES.

September 8, 2002, Sunday, 6:03 p.m. Hi. This is Steven Mlodinow. Today, I just back to Washington, but this evening there were three FRANKLIN'S GULLS at Iowa Beef, five SANDERLINGS at the Walla Walla River delta. For those who are interested, of some Oregon notes, most notably there is a BLUE-FOOTED BOOBY at Yaquina Head. No, I did not see that bird, but apparently it has been around for a day or two and returning. Call the Oregon hotline for further information. At Malheur this morning, there was a male HOODED WARBLER. At the town of Long Creek, there was a YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKER. Spent a week at Malheur, there was a TENNESSEE WARBLER. At Fields, there was an AMERICAN REDSTART and INDIGO BUNTING. That's it. Good luck and good birding.

September 9, 2002, Monday, 3:34 p.m. Hi. This is Steve Mlodinow. Today in the town of Colotus, there was a BLACK-THROATED GRAY WARBLER. In Othello, at the McCain ponds, there were two TRI-COLORED BLACKBIRDS in the hay fields on the east side of the ponds, one male and one female. At the ponds themselves, there was a SOLITARY SANDPIPER, two SEMI-PALMATED SANDPIPERS, and several PECTORAL SANDPIPERS. Remember you cannot drive on to the McCain ponds, you can walk on to them or around them. At Lind Coulee, there was four STILT SANDPIPERS, five SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHERS, about 15 PECTORAL SANDPIPERS, along with good numbers of commoner species; and at Perch Point on the Potholes Reservoir, there was a WHITE-FACED IBIS. To get to Perch Point, you go on M North from O'Sullivan Dam Road. Go west on 6th Avenue, just before 6th Avenue curves sharply to the right, there is a sign that says "Fishing Access Point." Go left. Follow that and you'll see a little muddy pool a short ways down. That's it. Good luck and good birding.

September 11, 2002, Wednesday, 9:32 p.m. Hi. This is Tom Aversa calling to report on a trip from Ridgefield. Today some pretty interesting birds down there. There was, foremost I guess, a BLACK PHOEBE right at the Keeler walking trail on the River S loop. As soon as you go in, it was in the waterway. Also, a TRUMPETER SWAN there, an adult bird, and two LAZULI BUNTINGS. At the Carter unit, there was a LEWIS' WOODPECKER and a RED-SHOULDERED HAWK, and down on Lower River Road in Vancouver, there were 25 GREAT EGRETS.
