Tweets - We started at sunrise at 7:00 a.m. with fog above us and fog over
the water. It took a long time to burn off, but by the time we got to the
lake, the skies were blue. There was still fog over the lake making distant
lake viewing difficult. They day was pretty quiet, except that birds
occasionally popped up, and we ended up feeling like we'd seen quite a bit.
Very few ducks though, and no grosbeaks or vireos.

Highlights:

Western Grebe 95% sure - one well out on lake
Double-crested Cormorant 1 well out on lake
Osprey Still 2, hanging out in the area near
the nest
Northern Harrier 1 over model airplane field
Virginia Rail Heard repeatedly from lake platform
Pileated Woodpecker One flew east over boardwalk
Vaux's Swift 1-2, including 1 that was soaring
Willow Flycatcher Still at least a couple, at least 1 imm.
Orange-crowned Warbler At least 3-5
Yellow Warbler At least 3
Wilson's Warbler 1 incredibly bright male, East Meadow
Lincoln's Sparrow 1, in an odd location - Dog Central
FOX SPARROW 1 - first of fall, tie w/'01 for earliest fall
sighting

For ducks, had only Mallard, Wood Duck, and a pair of Hooded Merganser at
the Rowing Club pond.

For the day, 51 species. For the year, still at 128. Grebe, cormorant, and
Fox Sparrow all first sightings for this fall.
