After work on Sept. 13th , I headed for the Ridgefield N.W.R.
where I easily relocated the BLACK PHOEBE at the River "S" Unit. The bird
was right at the start of the Kiwa Trail where Steve Gerstle and Tom
Aversa reported seeing it on Thursday. As I watched it would forage
several hundred yards along the tree-lined waterway but is vocal and
viewable by walking along the south side of the slough or from the Kiwa
Trail as it heads East.
I believe that the TRUMPETER SWAN they reported seeing may have been the
injured one that has remained there through the summer.
In Camas there was a kettle of 14 TURKEY VULTURES spiraling above
the city as i headed for the refuge.
