Young Birders -

With the beginning of a new school year comes the beginning of a new
year of BirdWatch, the Seattle Audubon Society's youth birding group. If you
are interested in nature and, primarily, birds, then BirdWatch is undoubtedly
the group for you! It is available to all high schoolers. We have monthly
meetings focused on birds and birding, but also other aspects of nature. We
also go on monthly field trips around the state, and even a spring break trip
out of state (this year Southern California)! Other activities include
restoration and habitat-monitoring projects (an excellent way to pick up some
hours of community service), and paid summer internships, such as
apprenticing a wildlife biologist or working at the Burke Museum!
This year is sure to be full of exciting meetings, trips, and projects
.. . . but the best part is experiencing the wide and wonderful world of birds
with other high schoolers who share your interest!
If you are interested in joining BirdWatch, please write me back (<A HREF="didjkid at aol.com">
didjkid at aol.com</A>) or contact Emily Sprong, the BirdWatch Coordinator, at <A HREF="emilys at audubon.org">
emilys at seattleaudubon.org</A>.

Hope to hear from some new young birders!
