Today my mother and I birded the Ocean Shores area, in which we encountered
relatively low numbers and diversity of shorebirds throughout the day until
we arrived at the Driftwood Drive beach access upon our evening visit with a
very good numbers within two shorebirds species including 970+ Black-bellied
Plovers and 5,500+ Sanderlings with lesser numbers of five other shorebird
species to be listed below. The weather throughout the day at Ocean Shores
and vicinity was very cloudy with isolated drizzle and light winds at times
with NO chances of any clearing. We managed to encounter many birders
today,mainly at Ocean Shores with at one group in association to a field
trip and the other birders that we met being on their own. We covered many
of the familiar areas within Ocean Shores,but the Driftwood Drive beach
access remained our most notable area that hosted the largest continuing
shorebird numbers today after 4pm. Our main highlight from this location was
one of three juvenile Parasitic Jaegers that was well observed and
photographed at close range along the beach,which was notable observation
for this species and a personal first for both of us at the closeness range.
Good numbers of Am.Pipits continue in the Ocean Shores area compared to our
last visit to Ocean Shores, and Sooty Shearwaters and Common Murres remain
in good numbers close to shore.

Throughout the day we did manage to locate a few highlights away from the
large shorebird numbers at Driftwood Drive beach access including:

3 juvenile Parasitic Jaegers at the Driftwood Drive beach access
