At the Walla Walla River Delta in southwestern Walla Walla Co WA, Steve
Mlodinow reports 5 SANDERLINGS on 8 September. Just north of the delta at
the Iowa Dodd Beef processing plant, Steve also saw 3 FRANKLIN'S GULLS. The
Walla Walla River Delta is just north of the jct of US 12 and US 730 and can
be accessed 0.1 mile north of Madame Dorian Park. There's a pull-out along
US 12 at milepost 306.9 and a path to the delta. Dodd-Iowa Beef Road is at
US 12 milepost 301.5 about 5.5 miles north of the jct of US 12 and US 730.
Follow Dodd-Iowa east about 0.5 miles past the slaughter house, the road
goes down a little hill and then back up. At the top, turn right onto a
gravel road that used to be a railroad grade. Follow it to settling ponds.
WA DeLorme 40, CD-1.

A BLACK-THROATED GRAY WARLBER was spotted in Kahlotus, Franklin Co WA on 9
September by Steve Mlodinow. WA DeLorme 54, CD-4. A pair of TRI-COLORED
BLACKBIRDS were at McCain ponds near Othello, Adams Co WA according to
Steve. WA DeLorme 53, B-7.

Mann Lake east of Lewiston, Nez Perce Co ID is still sadly low on
shorebirds. On 14 September, several birders saw a single LINCOLN'S SPARROW
and the usual common shorebird contingent. In Lewiston, at the levee pond
just south of the US 12 bridge to Clarkston, along Snake River Drive, was a
single BLACK-CROWNED NIGHT HERON.

"Several" CATTLE EGRETS were reported in Kootenai Co ID this past week.
Apparently these birds were seen and photographed along the new bike trail
between Harrison and Medimont, with the birds seen on the south side of the
trail about 5 miles east of Harrison. ID DeLorme BC-1.5
