This is the Vancouver Natural History Society's Bird Alert for Tuesday,
September 17, evening update, sponsored in part by the Wild Birds Unlimited
stores in Vancouver and North Vancouver.

The featured birds are and SHARP-TAILED and BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPER.

Sightings for Tuesday, September 17:

At 104th Street in Delta the following birds were seen: a SHARP-TAILED
SANDPIPER, a BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPER, an AMERICAN GOLDEN PLOVER , and a
RUDDY TURNSTONE, and all were juveniles.

Monday, September 16:

A BAR-TAILED GODWIT was briefly seen at 112th Street in Delta, before the
bird flew east in the direction of Mud Bay. At 104th there were 2 RED KNOTS,
an AMERICAN GOLDEN PLOVER , a RUDDY TURNSTONE and a SHARP-TAILED SANDPIPER.

Another SHARP-TAILED SANDPIPER was seen in the northwest sewage pond at Iona
Island.

At Reifel the RED PHALROPE and AMERICAN AVOCET could still be found in the
west field.

Sunday, September 15:

The RED PHALROPE and AMERICAN AVOCET were again in the west field of Reifel,
along with a flock of 25 SNOW GEESE.

Reports came in of 1 to 3 SHARP-TAILED SANDPIPERS seen in the northwest
sewage pond at Iona Island.

One BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPER was at the base of the coal port jetty on the
south side.
104th Street in Delta had an AMERICAN GOLDEN PLOVER and a RED KNOT.
