Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday September 19. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls

A HOODED WARBLER has been at Malheur NWR all week. A BLACKPOLL WARBLER was
there September 14. A BLACK-AND-WHITE WARBLER is now at Peoria, southeast of
Corvallis. A female REDSTART was at Pittock Mansion in northwest Portland
September 17. An immature male ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAK was in Bend September
14.

FOX, WHITE-CROWNED, and GOLDEN-CROWNED SPARROWS, PIPITS, and WHITE-FRONTED
GEESE were conspicuous migrants during the week.

On September 16 a BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPER, 3 RUFFS, and 2 LAPLAND LONGSPURS
were on the North Spit of Coos Bay. A STILT SANDPIPER and a PACIFIC
GOLDEN-PLOVER have been at Bandon during the week. A BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPER
was at Seal Rock State Park September 13. A CLAY-COLORED SPARROW has been at
a feeder south of Newport during the week.

Three BLACK PHOEBES are now at Ridgefield NWR. A PARASITIC JAEGER, a
FRANKLIN'S GULL, and a flock of COMMON TERNS were at Sturgeon Lake on Sauvie
Island all week. A WESTERN GULL was there September 15. A WHITE-TAILED KITE
was at Coon Point on the Island September 14. Over 300 CRANES are now on the
Island.

Five COMMON TERNS were at Smith Lake in North Portland September 17. An
adult GOSHAWK has been in the neighborhood around SE 82d. and Powell in east
Portland during the week checking out bird feeders.

Over 100,000 BARN SWALLOWS were at their evening roost on Grand Island,
south of Dayton September 13. A flock of 14 COMMON TERNS is now at Fern
Ridge Reservoir. A CATBIRD was south of Grants Pass September 18.

A FORSTER'S TERN was at Big Lake at Santiam Pass September 16. A flock of
219 PINYON JAYS was near Sisters September 14. A RED-NECKED GREBE was at
Hatfield Lake near Bend September 15. A POMARINE JAEGER was at Owyhee
Reservoir south of Ontario September 18.
