Tweets - a day late, but here's the report from Marymoor. Eight of us met
yesterday at 7:00 a.m. under broken clouds. The clouds cleared somewhat,
and the few wisps of fog faded fast, but a fairly strong wind out of the
south developed as the morning progressed.

The seasons are changing, and we were caught a bit between summer and winter
yesterday. The total species count was only 44, with only a few summer
birds lingering, and only a few winter birds having arrived.

Highlights:

Northern Shoveler One flyby - first for 2002
Common Merganser Pair flew south early
American Coot First of fall (first reported Sunday)
Vaux's Swift Still 1 or 2 hanging around
Brown Creeper 2 near the start of the boardwalk
Golden-crowned Kinglet Near mansion and at Rowing Club
Golden-crowned Sparrow First of fall

The real highlight was seeing four RIVER OTTERS playing on the far bank near
the weir, then getting into the river and swimming downstream.

Also nice was a gorgeous pair of WOOD DUCK near the Rowing Club dock in the
sunshine!

Only warblers were COMMON YELLOWTHROATS. Did have a SWAINSON'S THRUSH or
two, but no flycatchers or vireos. Only BARN SWALLOWS remain as well.

For the day, 44, for the year, 129.
