Tweets,
Diann Mac Rae started the Salt Creek CP vulture watch yesterday and had
a flock of 47. Her report for today: "No exotics today but it was certainly
a 2 observer vulture day! [She was alone.] I'm sure I missed a bunch (which
I hope is 5). Anyway______ TURKEY VULTURES 309, MERLINS 6, REDTAILS 4,
NORTHERN HARRIER one immature, SHARPSHIN one, unidentified ACCIPITOR, one,
BALD EAGLE 2, (local not migrants). What can I say -- A great day. Hope
yours was too. Diann."
Personally Judy Mulally and I ended up at Point No Point for high tide
this afternoon with few COMMON TERNS (about 75) and several hundred
BONAPARTES' with 7 PARASITICS harassing them. At about high tide there were
so few terns that every time you saw a tern it had 2 or three PARASITICS
harassing it. We saw Vic Nelson briefly and he said the numbers of gulls and
terns went down in late afternoon and there were more in the morning. I
forgot to ask him if an incoming or a dropping tide was the best at Point No
Point.
