Saturday, participating in the NAMC we found migrant Western Bluebirds in
heavy numbers in eastern Klickitat County. Along Hoctor Road SE of
Goldendale we had around a 100 Westerns the day before the count. On count
day, Saturday, this area was devoid of Westerns except at the top of Oak
Flat Road where that road meets Hoctor. Most of our Bluebirds were found
easterly of Rock Creek Canyon on the Goldendale-Bickleton Road and northwest
of Bickleton on the Pine Creek Road. We tallied 194 Western Bluebirds on
Saturday! These were usually encountered in Migrating flocks of around 20
birds.

Nearly thirty Mountain Bluebirds were tallied along Pine Creek Road NW of
Bickleton on Saturday in the late afternoon. The count to the south of
Bickleton apparently didn't find Mountain Bluebirds that day. (Bickleton is
truly the Bluebird Capitol of Washington!)
