O.k. so it looks like we overshot the best birding location today by a few
miles. Who would have thought the Sharp-tailed Sandpiper would be in
Hoquiam rather than the game range at Ocean Shores? I'm now in a deep funk,
but despite the miss Gary Wiles (he's back) and I did see a few species in
Ocean Shores. We were somewhat successful with our main target bird:
Lapland Longspur. We had three birds today, one flyby at Driftwood St and
two flushed at Damon Point by the pond...all were identified by voice since
they were being so uncooperative. American Pipits were just about
everywhere, and we did also see the migrating flocks of Steller's Jays (25
at Sewage Ponds).

The list looks pathetic now that I've typed it. But then all I can think
about is that botched Sharp-tail...
