Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday September 26. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls

On September 21 a PRAIRIE WARBLER was at the mouth of the Deschutes River.
Another was at Seaside September 22. Neither remained. A VIRGINIA'S WARBLER
and two BLACKPOLL WARBLERS were at the mouth of the Winchuck River, south of
Brookings September 23.

A PHAINOPEPLA was near Benson Pond in Malheur NWR September 19. Two HOODED
WARBLERS remain at Malheur Headquarters. At Headquarters September 20 were a
BLACK-AND-WHITE WARBLER, a TENNESSEE WARBLER, and a BLACKPOLL WARBLER.

A LAPLAND LONGSPUR and five COMMON TERNS were at the South Jetty of Yaquina
Bay September 23. On September 21 a LONG-TAILED DUCK and a FRANKLIN'S GULL
were at Boiler Bay. A RED-PHALAROPE, 25 BULLER'S SHEARWATERS, and 43
POMARINE JAEGERS were there September 24. On September 21 over 200,000 SOOTY
SHEARWATERS were off the South Jetty of the Columbia River.

The RED-SHOULDERED HAWK, the adult PARASITIC JAEGER, the FRANKLIN'S GULL,
and the WHITE PELICANS are still being seen off Coon Point on Sauvie Island.
Over 1000 SANDHILL CRANES are now on the Island and the first large flocks
of CACKLING CANADA GEESE arrived there September 22. Sauvie Island Wildlife
Area closes October 1, but the Coon Point overlook remains open. On
September 19 a PRAIRIE FALCON was in Scappoose Bottoms.

A male COSTA'S HUMMINGBIRD is now coming to a feeder in Tigard. A DUSKY
FLYCATCHER was in northwest Portland September 25. A BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPER
is now being seen at the Fernhill Wetlands. A BROAD-WINGED HAWK was seen
September 24 at the Bonney Butte Hawkwatch Station near Mt. Hood.

A BLACK PHOEBE was at Ankeny NWR September 21. A LAPLAND LONGSPUR was on
Marys Peak, southwest of Corvallis September 19. A BURROWING OWL returned to
Davis Road north of Halsey by September 25.

A BLUE-GRAY GNATCATCHER was at Tumalo Reservoir near Bend September 21. Two
SANDERLINGS were at Ochoco Reservoir near prineville September 25. On
September 21 over 5000 RUDDY DUCKS were at Howard Bay on Upper Klamath Lake.
A SCRUB-JAY was four miles east of Mitchell September 21.

On September 18 a HERMIT WARBLER was at Benson Pond in Malheur NWR. The next
day a NORTHERN WATERTHRUSH was at Frenchglen, and on September 23 a
WHITE-THROATED SPARROW was in Fields.
