Don Chesebro mentioned he and Carlene Moberg observed a Bobolink in a
grassy, area of their property in Tieton 26 September 2002. This report
provides a rare fall record of this species from Yakima County and probably
represents a bird migrating south from north and east of here. Most
Bobolinks evidently migrate east first, then south through the
mid-continent to their wintering grounds in the pampas of Argentina.
Off-course individuals show up at odd places, even on the west coast on rare
occasions.
