Tweets,
I was joined by Ryan Shaw and Charlie Wright for some exploration of the naneum area for owling and some of the counties harder to find birds. Last night just at last light, we had a BARRED OWL fly accross the road and later responded to our call. After some dinner, we owled in the naneum meadows and naneum ridge. At the meadows we located one BOREAL OWL that called briefly and one calling NORTHERN SAW-WHET OWL. WE had one more calling Saw-whet up the ridge.
This morning we birded the high lodgepole pine/spruce habitat in hopes of finding some of the more unusual birds of the northern county. At our first stop, we located 1 calling PINE GROSBEAK and I located 1 THREE-TOED WOODPECKER. No other unusual species, though Black-backed Woodpecker or Spruce Grouse was hoped for.
A final highlight was a stop along lower Colockum road yielded a rubber-boa in the roadside and allowed us a few minutes to view this unique snake.

Good Birding.
