Bonanza at the Fill today:

09.30 - 09.50am - quick visit in between rain showers

30+ yellow-rumped warblers
1 pectoral sandpiper on the central pond
2 northern pintail on the central pond
140+ ring-necked ducks in Union Bay
20 green winged teal on the central pond


4.10 - 5.30pm

16 turkey vultures in a kettle drifting south over Union Bay - a new
species for the Fill for me !!!!
1 pectoral sandpiper on the central pond
2 northern pintail on the central pond
1 merlin in the dead cottonwoods at the SE corner
1 red-tailed hawk being mobbed crows next to the slough beside the
playing fields
1 american bittern at the SE corner
1 green heron at the SE corner
4 northern flickers
1 Anna's hummingbird
1 blue-winged teal on the central pond
<10 yellow-rumped warbler
1 ruby-crowned kinglet
1 Steller's Jay - calling near Center for Urban Horticulture

In Union Bay:

2 ruddy ducks
2 great blue herons
1 belted kingfisher
1 lesser scaup

Other species seen: american wigeon, gadwall, american coot, american
crow, american goldfinch, red-winged blackbird, pied billed grebe,
double-crested cormorant, ring-billed gull, glaucous-winged gull,
mallard, canada goose, european starling, marsh wren, ad infinitum.....
