Hi Tweets:
Hmmm. How do I talk about an e-mail problem I'm having, when I'm supposed
to discuss birds on this listserv? Guess I'll tell about the raptors we saw
going over Chinook Pass this week. First, the email problem.
I'm on worldnet.att.net and am having problems sending msgs to friends that
have hotmail.com. Turns out the problem is on the hotmail side. Here is
what my provider told me.
"The administrators at Hotmail.com are obviously experiencing technical
difficulties with their mail servers. Connections accepted from WorldNet
and other providers are rare and those rare connections for delivering mail
to hotmail customers are cut off before communications are complete.
Coupled with the massive amounts of mail waiting for delivery at Hotmail
when connections are active, these difficulties have resulted in a negative
affect on the message queues at Worldnet."
Sometimes my msgs get through, and sometimes they don't. Apparently there
are LOTS of messages that have backed up and are not getting through to
hotmail, so they are bouncing back to other servers. Just thought you'd
like to know.
Oh, oh, guess I better talk about birds now.
Last Wed, Sept 25, I was with a group that went over Naches Pass (the good
forest road pass north of Chinook Pass in Washington). On our way back, we
came west over Chinook Pass. It was about 3pm, and we stopped on the east
side of the pass. We noticed raptors flying thru on the west side. We saw
a Golden Eagle, an Accipitor, and some other raptor. Unfortunately, we
couldn't stop on the west side of Chinook Pass (at Lake Tipsoo) to observe
the hawk migration, as we had to get back to town, and were on a schedule.
Chinook Pass might be a good place to observe hawk migration. The Sullivans
reported seeing raptors at Chinook on the afternoon of Sun, Sept 27. The
road to Chinook has been improved and the views of Mt Rainier are beatiful.
Yours, Carol Schulz
