Hello all,
I recently moved back to West Seattle from Madison Valley, and now
live just north of Lincoln Park. It's been a terrific pleasure getting
reacquainted with all the beach birds--harlequins, goldeneyes (both kinds),
many kinds of grebes, a kingfisher, some loons, black, white-winged, and
surf scoters, and so forth--and some new yard birds (nuthatch and
chestnut-backed chickadee). But it was especially wonderful this morning at
breakfast, when I heard a rat-a-tat outside my window, and looked out to see
a pileated woodpecker working away at the top of an old telephone pole right
across the street!
