I got out this morning and visited the Grays Harbor NWR and the Hoquiam sewage treatment pond. I was lucky enough to get in some good birding in between downpours. I started with the Sandpiper trail (boardwalk) and then took a quick look at the sewage treatment pond. Rufous Hummingbirds of both sexes were seen all along the road to the trail and along the trail itself. They are quite busy and hard to miss. Although, Marsh Wrens were in good competition with the hummingbirds of being the most noticeable bird with their constant singing all along the trail and road too. Altogether I found 30 species and probably could have had more since I got there just after low tide. Two flocks of shorebirds were seen out on the edge of the water, but too far away for me to identify. Here's the list of what I observed today:
