Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday April 3. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls at

The Springfiedld BLUE JAY is still being seen as is the RUFF at Lower
Klamath Lake NWR.

The migration continues with COMMON YELLOWTHROAT, OSPREY, CHIPPING SPARROW,
and CASPIAN TERNS now arriving. Shorebirds numbers are also increasing.

On March 27 a BROWN PELICAN was at Brookings. Two were near Waldport April
2. A RED-SHOULDERED HAWK was at the Bayocean parking Lot on Tillamook Bay
March 29. A male LESSER GOLDFINCH was at a Bay city feeder April 2.

A blue phased ROSS?S GOOSE was at Shillapoo Lake near Vancouver Lake March
28. That day a SAY?S PHOEBE was near the mouth of the Sandy River. The
EMPEROR GOOSE is still west of Amity but is often elusive. The pair of BLACK
PHOEBES south of Dayton are now building their nest.

A CASSIN?S VIREO was at Skinners Butte in Eugene April 1. The next day one
was in Eugene?s Alton Baker Park.

A CALLIOPE HUMMINGBIRD was at a feeder near Sisters March 31. By that day
the WHITE-THROATED SWIFTS had returned to Smith Rocks State park near
Terrebonne. On April 2 WESTERN KINGBIRDS were reported from Jordan Valley.
