Jim Pruske and I did a little birding along a newly paved section of the
Chehalis Western Trail between 89th Ave. and Military Road in Thurston
County. This section has a diversity of habitats ranging from prairie to
forest and the birding was good. Here's a few species seen for the day.

2 Savannah Sparrows (seen and heard singing)
2 Fox Sparrows
8 Evening Grosbeaks
flock of Pine Siskins
flock of Purple Finches
2 Orange Crowned Warblers (seen and heard singing)
2 Scrub Jays
1 Ruffed Grouse drumming
1 California Quail calling
2 Bald Eagles
2 Cooper's Hawks
1 Merlin
1 Osprey
2 Western Bluebirds (pair)
