Sightings for April 5

At the Head of the Lake, near Vernon, a LONG-BILLED CURLEW was seen from the
trailer park (CC,RT,MF). A pair of GRAY PARTRIDGE were along Head of the
Lake Road, across from Desert Cove Estates, and inside the estates was a
CEDAR WAXWING (CC,MF,RT).

At a small pond along Commonage Road, about 1 km W. of Rose's Pond, a male
CINNAMON TEAL was seen (CC,RT,MF). Migrant ROUGH-LEGGED HAWKS were noted on
the Vernon Commonage and along Beaver Lake Road, E. of Winfield
(CC,MF,RT,CS).

Drumming along Beaver lake Road at km 5.6, were the first two RED-NAPED
SAPSUCKERS reported this spring (CC,MF,RT,CS).

Along the Okanagan River Channel in Penticton, a male YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLER
and a NORTHERN SHRIKE were reported (LN).


Sightings for April 4

A PACIFIC LOON was seen on Okanagan Lake, near Kelowna, at the St. Hubertus
Winery on Lakeshore Road (HV).

At the Thomson-Brook Ponds on Gordon Road, in Kelowna, a male CINNAMON TEAL
was reported (HV).

A survey of birds in Sutherland Hills Park, in Kelowna, produced a VARIED
THRUSH, 2 WINTER WRENS, a ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK, 2 WOOD DUCKS and 2 BELTED
KINGFISHERS (CC).


Sightings for April 2

The male EURASIAN WIGEON was again seen at Munson's Pond, in Kelowna
(CC,MF).

The first push of migrant RUBY-CROWNED KINGLETS occurred today, with up to
five birds in a small wetland along Maquinna Road, off Hall Road in Kelowna
(CC,MF).

The ponds in Sutherland Hills Park and along Hall Road, in Kelowna, had
upwards of 10 WOOD DUCKS on them (CC,MF).

On the late side, 7 BOHEMIAN WAXWINGS were at the Chichester Bird Sanctuary
in Rutland (CC).
