WW Pewee is also calling at Sharingwood as of this morning, slightly east
and north of Bothell. Yup, its a Western, not an eastern, In fact I have
never heard an eastern at this location. The previous earliest date for this
bird here is May 3rd.

Also today at Bob Heirman park, on the big pond this morning was a
canvasback, first time I have seen that bird in that Park. Northern Harriers
were on the nest, the male sitting at first, replaced as I returned from the
river by the female. On the river bar was a dead gull with its breast
plucked and eaten after the fashion of Pergrine falcons. A coyote was
mousing in the short grass, hopping and bouncing about with its tail high.
In the overflow flood puddles were five dead Microtus, so I wonder if that
species is going through one of its population booms?

Hi Tweets,

This morning between 6 and 6:30 AM. Western Wood
Pewee was calling from the DNR land on the hill next
to my house, south of the Kenmore Gun Ranges on the
edge of Bothell. I checked it out briefly and found
it calling from a snag. On summer and late spring
evenings as many as a dozen can be heard at this
location.

As I recall someone reported one somewhere in the
south sound last week? This is still 4 or 5 weeks
early.
