Subject: Injured burrowing owl near Othello

I saw what appeared to be an injured burrowing owl near Othello on Sunday. It was on Gillis St. at its burrow between Lemaster and Steel. It had a chunk of feathers missing from its chest, a twig jutting out of the back of its neck, and looked quite emaciated. Its partner (non-injured) had a blue band, but I did not see a band on the injured one.

I left a message with fish and wildlife (southcentral office) but couldn't get through to the north central office (though they said they would pass it on). I didn't know if there was anyone else who might be able to help rehab or at least check out this bird, otherwise I'm afraid it might die.
