We had a quick look at a female Varied Thrush in our backyard last weekend. I think I recall hearing them early in the morning in the neighborhood over recent weeks. It didn't strike me as unusual though. I remember on more than one occasion seeing one or more at our apartment complex in the mid 90's in Redmond (up Avondale Road / east "slope" of Education Hill). We had open space and woods bordering the complex then, but condos went in behind us just before we moved.
