Greets Tweets . . . .

In preparing for trips this summer, I've started lurking on a couple of
lists, one in Colorado, and one in New Hampshire.

I'm wondering if any Tweeters have interesting experiences or comparative
observations regarding other lists.

The reason I bring this up is that this morning, the New Hampshire list
opened up the "dreaded cat thread". I don't know if it's the first time
it's been a topic of their discussion (can't imagine so), but I sent a
posting alerting them to the fact that while it is definitely bird-related,
it's a taboo subject on our list as it has typically (if not always)
resulted in more "animated" discussion than is generally preferred (to put
it politely -- and I'm definitely *not* opening it up for discussion here).

Anyway, their postings started out innocently enough, but I can already see
them getting more pointed now that both sides have chimed in. If you're
interested, I'll let you know the gist of how the discussion runs its
course. Call it an opportunity for a quick psychological geographic
comparison of birders, cat-lovers, and all us nuts on both ends and in
between.
