Cascadia Hummingbird Report - 04/14/2003

Rufous Hummingbirds made a big push into Alaska last week with
multiple reports in the Juneau area. The first two east of the
Cascades reports also came in this week, one from Winfield, BC
north of Kelowna and one from Peshastin, WA west of Wenatchee.
High numbers of Rufous Hummingbirds are still being reported
around feeders west of the Cascades and cooler than average
weather persists throughout the region.

Calliope Hummingbirds made a good showing last week appearing at
several locations east of the Cascades.

Salmonberry blooms are peaking at Columbia River monitoring sites
and flower density may be better than average as well. This may
be a good year for Salmonberry Jam....
