This is the Vancouver Natural History Society's Bird Alert for Sunday, April
13th, sponsored in part by Wild Birds Unlimited, with stores in Vancouver
and North Vancouver.

Featured birds are MARBLED GODWIT and MOUNTAIN BLUEBIRD.

Sightings for Sunday, April 13

A MARBLED GODWIT was seen on the shoreline off Beach Grove Lagoon at the
foot of 12th in Tsawwassen. Also seen at Boundary Bay RP were a female
MOUNTAIN BLUEBIRD, HORNED LARK and 2 WESTERN MEADOWLARKS.

A PACIFIC-SLOPE FLYCATCHER was again reported from the 2200 block of W-7th.

At Burnaby Mountain Park were a TOWNSEND SOLITAIRE and a HERMIT THRUSH.

Another HERMIT THRUSH was reported at Stanley Park's Prospect Point.

A NORTHERN SHRIKE was present at Maplewood.

COMMON YELLOWTHROATS are being reported through the Vancouver Area.

Saturday, April 12

Two SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHERS and a EURASIAN WIGEON were seen in a field near
the Boundary Bay Airport.

Another SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHER was seen at Boundary Bay RP. Also reported
from this area were several BONAPARTE'S GULLS, a female MOUNTAIN BLUEBIRD,
several AMERICAN PIPITS, a WESTERN MEADOWLARK and a HORNED LARK.

Observed at Burnaby Mountain Park were the TOWNSEND'S SOLITAIRE and a female
PINE GROSBEAK.

A NORTHERN SHRIKE was seen on Sea Island near MacDonald Rd. At Iona were a
WHIMBREL and 11 BONAPARTE'S GULLS.

Thursday, April 10

A singing WHITE-THROATED SPARROW was observed at a small park on the SW
corner of 208th & the Fraser Hwy in Langley.

A NORTHERN SHRIKE was seen at Colony Farm. Another was sighted along the
Nature Dike at Grant Narrows RP. Also reported from Grant Narrows were
COMMON YELLOWTHROAT, and 3 OSPREY. Seen south of the Park along McNeill Rd.
were 2 AMERICAN KESTRELS and 9 TURKEY VULTURES.

The HORNED LARK was again observed at Boundary Bay RP north of the
concessions.

Wednesday, April 9

Reported from Iona were 3 BARN SWALLOWS and an AMERICAN PIPIT.

A Eurasian race GREEN-WINGED TEAL was seen at Boundary Bay RP.

A PACIFIC-SLOPE FLYCATCHER was seen in the 2200 block of W 7th.

A REDHEAD was at Lost Lagoon.

Tuesday, April 8

Two male MOUNTAIN BLUEBIRDS were observed at Boundary Bay RP. Also reported
from the Park were 3 WESTERN MEADOWLARKS and a HORNED LARK.

At Elgin Heritage Park in Surrey were 2 Eurasian GREEN-WINGED TEAL and 3
EURASIAN WIGEON.

RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRDS are being reported throughout the Lower Mainland.
